Aulus Cornelius Celsus (circa 100 A.D.) was a prolific Roman writer during
the first century. He wrote an encyclopedia on subjects ranging from
medicine and agriculture to philosophy and warfare, based largely on
the ideas of Hippocrates, a Greek physician. Three of his eight books on
medicine are still in print in English today.
